Student & Staff Safety

As Trustee I have supported and voted for concrete student safety programs including:

  • Prevention and Early Intervention Serving 33 middle schools and 15 high schools in Sacramento County through on-campus chapter meetings, student leadership trainings, and school site faculty advisor trainings, reaching 1,700 students monthly.
  • Provided Friday Night Live (FNL) Mentoring at four middle schools and four high school sites allowing 85 students to build mutually beneficial relationships while learning important life skills.
  • Office of Traffic Safety grant provided pedestrian and bicycle safety education to five middle schools and thousands of community members throughout the county through bike rodeos, safety courses, on-foot safety trainings, helmet fitting distributions, and educational presentations.
  • Provided technical assistance and support to 13 districts for Tobacco-Use Prevention Education.
  • Sacramento County Coalition for Youth (SCCY) continued the Future Forward marijuana prevention (for youth) and the Talk They Hear You Campaign (for parents), impacting thousands of community members through television commercials and transit media.
  • Hosted a screening of the documentary, Fentanyl High, followed by a panel discussion with more than 350 registrants and a waiting list.
  • Supported and provided technical assistance to 12 Sacramento County school districts for Bullying Prevention Programming serving over 37,000 students who received bullying prevention curriculum, services, and supports.
  • Supported 34 suicide prevention trainings throughout the county with 1,695 participants to date receiving crisis intervention and suicide prevention trainings.
  • Provided 49 skill-dense mentoring sessions to date with 11 mentors supporting 20 residents in two housing units within the Youth Detention Facility (YDF).
